My daughter has an HP Pavilion x360 Convertible model number 15-cr0087cl a small piece of plastic broke off the housing where the charger plugs into the laptop. We do have a warranty even for accidents with the store we bought it from but we would like to charge it to get her info off of it before we turn it in.
Can it be charge with an alternative method such as a USB c device?

@Kristi_Kaye Welcome to HP Community!
I understand that the charger port is broken.
I have checked the manual. There is an alternative charge method.
The USB C type port Connects a USB device, such as a cell phone, camera, activity tracker, or smartwatch, and provides data transfer. NOTE: Cables and/or adapters (purchased separately) may be required.
I would suggest you contact ou phone support and check for the support option. They will help you.
Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.
1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2)Select the product type.
3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.
4)Select the country from the drop-down.
5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.
We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

Yes, that is correct. There is no option to charge the laptop using the USB C type.
The charging port has to be replaced. I would suggest you contact our phone support for repair or you can contact local service center for repair.
Have a nice day!!
