Hi:

You should be able to find the info you need in the Maintenance and Service Guide for your notebook at the link below...

Can SSD and existing hard drive  co exist?  Can I only upgrade to 256gb?

Below is the link to the Crucial memory/SSD report for your notebook.

https://www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/envy-x360-15-w237cl

It offers compatible M.2 SSD's up to 1 TB for your model.

The manual doesn't show any dual drive configurations are supported.  Only a 2.5" drive or a M.2 SSD.

So, you would have to experiment and see if it would work.

I believe that the notebook is always going to want to boot from the hard drive first if it has an operating system on it.

So what I would do is to disconnect the hard drive, install the SSD, make sure it works, install W10 on it and then figure out a way to format the 2.5" drive to get rid of the OS on there.

I would also make sure your notebook has the M.2 slot because chapter 3 shows motherboards with and without a SSD slot.

Thanks for your prompt response. I will update here once I am done with my upgrade.

You're very welcome.

Before buying a M.2 SATA SSD, open up your notebook first and confirm that there is a M.2 slot there.

I'm thinking there isn't one.

There are motherboards just for PC's that came with M.2 drives, and there are motherboard without the M.2 slot.

That may explain why there are no dual drive configurations offered.

Can you see this photo and say if there is M2 slot?

Hi:

Yes, that is the M.2 slot, and the hole at the other end is where the screw secures the SSD on the other end.

Hopefully, the SSD you buy will come with the mounting screw to hold it down.
