HP Laptop PC 15s-fr2000
Microsoft Windows 11

Processor - 11th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-1115G4 @ 3.00GHz 2.90 GHz

SSD - KBG40ZNV512G KIOXIA

HP doesn't provide a manual for this model. When I try to download from the site it gives the manual for Model numbers: 15-dy0xxx, 15t-dy000. c08289069.pdf
But I figured out from this post

https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware-and-Upgrade-Questions/Motherboard-specs/td-p/8823534

that it can support 32gb.

Besides that I wanted to know if any upgrades were possible. I wanted to change the SSD to a M.2 1TB one but I can't find relevant info about compatibility. I am not sure if processors can be upgraded but would love to know if it is possible. Ram speed is also not mentioned but apparently it depends on both the motherboard and processor, which is why I wanted to know if processor upgrades are possible. (I believe that processor upgrades are possible in some non-welded cases but I needed to know its overall feasibility, and what processors are supported by this motherboard if an upgrade is possible.) I also can't find any proper info on motherboard specs with a google search.

I am unable to find the 15s-fr2xxx series on Crucial and the Crucial scanner doesn't work either (it just infinitely loads). The Corsair scanner gives no information at all and the Kingston scanner is region locked so it won't provide any upgrade part vendor location/site like Crucial.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Please tell me if any other information is required.

You're very welcome.

I just did a general search by the 15s-fr2000 model series and found the Crucial report.

All I can tell you is that the information from Crucial is almost always reliable, but in some cases it is not.

Since I can't find any related posts where anyone has reported 2 x 32 GB of memory will work in the 15s-fr2000 model series after upgrading a 15s-fr2000 model to that capacity, I am in no position to confidently tell you that 64 GB of memory will surely work.

The 32 GB value provided by running the Windows report is for a total of 32 GB of memory (2 x 16 GB).

The only devices you can upgrade on your PC would be the memory and install a larger capacity SSD.

The processor and graphics are integral parts of the motherboard.

Apparently, your notebook uses the same service manual as the 15-dy0xxx model series but none of the upgrade info would be relevant other than it has two memory slots.

HP does not update the service manuals as each successive model in the series is rolled out.

That makes it very difficult for us to help folks with questions like yours.

You should be able to install a PCIe Gen 3.0 SSD up to 4 TB according to the Crucial memory report for the model series.

https://www.crucial.in/compatible-upgrade-for/hp-compaq/hp-15s-fr2000

You can also install a Gen 4.0 SSD but it will not run at its maximum advertised read/write speeds from your notebook's M.2 slot.

This table shows the maximum transfer speeds each PCIe slot generation can provide:

https://www.crucial.com/support/articles-faq-ssd/pcie-speeds-limitations

Crucial indicates the model series will support up to 2 x 32 GB of memory.

You can also run this command to see what Windows indicates is the maximum memory:

1. In the search box, search for cmd and click Run as administrator.

This will open the command prompt.

2. Once command prompt is opened, type wmic memphysical get maxcapacityEx and press the Enter key.

There, it will show the maximum RAM capacity your PC's motherboard can support.

The capacity is shown as Kilobytes, so you have to convert it to Gigabytes by dividing the number provided in the report by 1,048,576.

Below is the link to the service teardown video for the 15-dy0xxx model series.

You can compare your notebook to see if it is similar to what the video shows, such as how to remove the bottom cover.

In this video, we will see how to repair and replace various parts when servicing or upgrading your HP 15-dy0000 Laptop PC computer. Follow the steps in this video to properly remove the specific parts and then safely install the replacement parts for sustained or improved performance. You can ...

Thanks a lot for the information.

I just have some follow up questions that honestly aren't that relevant since I will only get 32gb max.
- How did you locate this model on the crucial scanner?
I could have sworn 15s-fr2xxx or fr2000 wasn't on the list they provide.

- The command you provided is the same as the post I linked and it says 32gb. But the crucial scanner, like you said, shows  64.  So does the command only show the info for one slot or do I trust crucial?

- I am assuming that if the 64gb is true, or any value on any component, it means that the processor and motherboard are capable of handling that. For any future devices, are online scanners the best way to gauge for upgrades or would you recommend contacting an official company store (irrespective of the company) if they provide such a service?

I am not really sure if company stores or service centers provide upgrade info or upgrades but if they did I wanted to know if the process is easier than doing a bunch of online research. This question is technically for my family because going to a store would be easier for them. Also like the crucial 64 and cmd 32 discrepancy, I was wondering if an official company upgrade service might use different tools that are perhaps more accurate and comprehensive?
The discrepancy might just be an outlier though.

Thanks once again for the info. I was not aware that that 15-dy0xxx is part of the same series. I had tried to search for a series line though, but clearly I didn't find it. Also the last question is even more more irrelevant than the first two so sorry for bothering you with that.  Also sorry for the late reply. I did not expect such a quick answer so I didn't check earlier.
