Envy 17-n065na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have an Envy 17-n065na laptop. The battery fitted is an MC04 14.8 volts.  I have been sent an original HP MC06 battery which is 11.1 volts.  The supplier swears that the MC06 wil work, but many internet sites state that there are 2 different voltages for the MC04 and MC06 and that they are NOT compatible.  Can someone please tell me the truth about this, as I do not want to put the replacement battery into the machine if it is not compatible.  Can this battery be used as a replacement or not?

Many thanks in advance.

One has 4-cells and other has 6-cells. The specs of your machine is

              https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c04741661

It has  4-cell, 41 Wh Li-ion polymer battery. The series supports following parts:

  •  Battery (4-cell, 41-Wh, 2.8-Ah, Li-ion) part # 807231-001
  • Battery (6-cell, 62-Wh, 2.8-Ah, Li-ion)  part # 805095-001

That means you can use 6-cell with the right part.
