@starf1re , welcome to the forum.

Here is the Maintenance and Service Guide for the laptop: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c06377664

On Pages 37 and 38 is a list of hard drives that can be installed and instructions on removing and installing them.  I believe that you can install a standard SSD, such as, a Samsung EVO 860 in the bay.  I suggest that you open  the case to assure the appropriate connectors are available before buying a SSD, however.

The is only one M.2 socket on the motherboard.

Please click the Thumbs up + button if I have helped you and click Accept as Solution if your problem is solved.

Its specs

            https://support.hp.com/au-en/document/c06655486

It has  256 GB PCIe® NVMe™ M.2 SSD now. You can add 2.5" HDD/SSD to your machine but you need hard drive bracket and hard drive cable

  • The hard drive cable is available using spare part number L56898-001
  • The hard drive brackets are not available as a spare part.

Therefore for more storage space, the best option is to replace 256GB with 1TB or 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD drive using
