Attempting RAM upgrade

HP Notebook - 15-bs088nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I have a Notebook 15 (as listed above) which I am trying to update the RAM on. In the manual, I saw that the memory for 7th gen CORE i7 processor was DDR4-2133. I wanted an 8GB chip, so I ordered a samsung : https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07KGG3W35/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 .

I wanted to use Crucial, but I couldn't find an 2133MHz one. So my question was, did that really matter? Could I have gotten a 2400MHz chip instead? Or would that have caused problems on the machine?

Hi:

You could have used the Crucial 2400 MHz memory chip.

It would just downclock to match the 2133 MHz FSB speed of the processor.

You should be fine with the Samsung chip too.
