I would like the ability to have my keyboard backlit automatically turn off when not in use. Currently, it seems that I have to push the fn+f5 button to turn the light on and off again. Every other laptop I have had will turn on when I hit a key and turn off after 15-30 seconds. Why is this not a standard on this high end laptop?

If the BIOS provides the Advanced tab and the Built-in Device options setting, there is a setting for the backlight that should allow the keyboard light to shut off after X number of seconds.

Why does the backlight stay on for only a few seconds?

My bios does not look anything like the pictures in the document topic you provided. I also do not have an advanced tab or built-in options.

Too bad, I was afraid that is the case. Sad.

The Advanced tab is likely only available in the business class computers.

I don't have another answer.
