Wanted to post an update so others that see this thread will know how it was resolved.

I was contacted by HP Support and they were able to get the update to run and complete. The only thing they had me do which I had not previously tried was Disabling my Anti-Virus prior to running the update. I use Windows Defender, I disabled Real-Time protection and ran the BIOS Update. It ran successfully and updated the BIOS to latest version F.47.

Thank you very much, I will try this workaround soon.

I am sorry to report bad news but here the bios update won't work with the described method.

I have Windows 10 64 bit 1709, I disabled Defender, I ran "BIOS F.47 Rev.A sp84406", I did "next" after "next", "update", then reboot... nothing happen. I am still at F.45.

With the previous update, after the reboot, the bios was updating itself with a couple of screens and reboot, now, with F.46 and F.47 nothing works. 😞

Hi,

Like the previous user, even after disabling Windows Defender real-time protection & firewall, the bios continues not to update following installation + restart.

Anyone have any further troubleshooting tips?

To reiterate:

Hi,

I've attempted to flash the bios repeatedly, from F.26 to F.32 Rev.A...but after restarting, it's still F.26.

Can anyone assist?

Thanks in advance,
Alex"

Since my orginal post back in January, in which w/ HP Support assistance I was able to get a BIOS update to apply (F.47), I have tried multiple times to get subsequent updates applied with no success. However, I was finally able to get the most recent BIOS update applied (F.50) by doing it manually with a USB flash drive (major pain in the butt).

See the HP Support document: HP Notebook PCs - Updating the BIOS

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00042629

See the section "Update the BIOS when Windows does not start", in which it describes how to create and use a BIOS recovery flash drive.

Thanks for the feedback, Alex.

I've placed an order for a flash drive and will give that method a try in a few days.

In the meantime, if there are any further troubleshooting tips or explanation for the glitch from the community, it would be appreciated.

 Update:

Finally updated after "entering the bios settings and restoring to default" (pressing F9 key). Thanks all.

(guess I'll have a new USB drive for the heck of it

Hi,

Have you tried entering the bios settings and "restoring to default" (pressing F9 key) yet?

After doing so, then saving & restarting, ensuring the AV is still disabled and then attempting to run the .exe again, it should work...
