HP Pavilion Notebook

So this laptop states in the description of the argos website (search gaming laptop, it’s £650 literally first one that comes up) that its a backlit keyboard.. now correct me if I’m thick as anything but I can’t see a thing on this keyboard at night haha! I can’t seem to make it turn on? Not really sure what to do..

Hi,

OK. We are talking about the 15-bc499na and the documentation states it has a backlit keyboard.

The key to turn on backlight should be on the F5 key with backlight symbol

backlight key.PNGIs the symbol present on keyboard?

Let me know,

David

It doesn’t have this button on the laptop at all. I’m not quite sure what to do! I won’t be able to take it back because it’s now being used even though it’s incorrectly described (as it would seem)

If it does not have that key, it means it is a nonbacklit keyboard.

Can you confirm that 15-bc499na is the actual model, as in that series there are many models without a backlit keyboard. You can take a look at the HP support doc below and provide the exact model or product number (not serial)

That’s the model number I have. But as described on the website it’s backlit.. that’s false advertising then!!

I guess so. Probably the store took the info from the datasheet for that model from HP

Well I’m on a support chat right now and they’ve advised I get the laptop replaced. Although I don’t really want to pay more money 😕

Did you provide the data sheet I linked?

What kind of cost?

The one I bought was £650 - have used my years antivirus on it also, HP said I should contact the seller and ask about a replacement but the next one up is about £800!
