I have a OmniBook 14 with nordic/swedish keyboard design.

 I can't use the \ and | symbols/keys.

I've tried numerous options including altgr alt control fn shift and so on. I can type > < but not the needed other "chars". I am a software developer so it's kind of a useless laptop without these keys/signs.

Altgr + L starts a logging for instance.

I am using Swedish both in language and keyboard design. So the combo is meant to work.

I was in contact with HP support today via WA, but they couldn't help me.

I bought this laptop in May 2025 so it's möte or less brand new..

Solutions?

In need of help!

Thank you!

@TobbeLund, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Backslash and Pipe Keys on Nordic/Swedish Keyboard!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Your HP OmniBook 14 features a Nordic/Swedish keyboard layout, where the backslash (\) and pipe (|) keys are mapped within the 'L' key. Here’s how you can use these keys:

Steps to Type Backslash and Pipe Symbols

Backslash (\):

  • Use the combination alt gr + fn + L

Pipe (|):

  • Use the combination shift + fn + L

These combinations are specifically designed for the Nordic/Swedish keyboard and should work if the keyboard mapping is correctly set to Swedish.

Verifying Keyboard Settings

Ensuring that your keyboard input settings are correctly configured:

Open Keyboard Language Settings:

  • Go to Windows settings (Windows key + i)
  • Navigate to Time & Language > Language

Check Input Method:

  • Ensure the input method is set to Swedish.

Advanced Keyboard Settings:

  • Go to Typing > Advanced keyboard settings
  • Verify that the correct keyboard layout (Swedish) is selected.

Common Issues and Solutions:

Alt Gr Conflict:

  • You mentioned that alt gr + L starts logging. This might be caused by a specific software or hotkey conflict. Try disabling or reconfiguring any custom hotkey settings that might interfere with this default combination.

Keyboard Mapping Software:

  • Double-check if any keyboard mapping or custom hotkey software is installed. These applications can sometimes override the default key combinations.

Restart and Test:

Sometimes a simple restart can resolve temporary conflicts. Restart your laptop and test the combinations again.

Update: The software is now available for download.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
