I got this model just 8 months before and it worked well by yesterday.

But today when I tried turning on w/o power plug (by battery) it didn't show any react, even led lights.

And after plugged in, on booting 601 battery warning showed up. And I took several tests.

Followings are what my device showed to me.

 

1. Device turns off right after unplugging adapter.

2. On windows it says charging but percentage stays same.

3. On HP diagnostic component test on UEFI only battery(I tested all the components) had problem : KakaoTalk_20191119_002743149.jpg

4. On same test on Windows it didn't finish test and screen changed to black and stopped.

 

I'm curious how a model only 8 months old and worked well even yesterday(so I don't think the battery is really a problem) suddenly have this problem.

Is it a problem resolvable by replacing battery? or board fuse fix needed?

If battery replacement can be a solution, I'll try at home because I can't get services since I'm not in US.

What is happening in my laptop? Thanks in advance.

The failure code is useful only to the extent that it provides you the information you already have:

Anything else (if there is anything additional) hidden in the failure code information is available only to HP.  Our tools do not give us access to internal HP data.

 

It is unfortunate that you cannot use your warranty repair option - it appears you have a few days left on the original warranty.  Should you decide to contact HP Technical Support (if you are able to do so), you will need to confirm that information with HP.  Nothing that I say about the situation is binding.

 

The "why" is not a question we can answer - the battery age may be a contributor (400+ days).  Environmental factors can certainly play a part, too.  Battery condition is important:  how many times the battery has been charged (charge cycles), whether the power to which the computer is connected is of the appropriate voltage (not prone to surges and dips). 

 

I cannot confirm nor verify anything about a blown fuse and / or whether there are other elements or factors that contribute to the failure.

 

If you must do so, you can perhaps replace the battery yourself - the replacement does require that you have access to the actual replacement part and that you can safely disassemble and then reassemble the computer to replace the part(s).

Hint:  If you have not done this kind of replacement in the past, read more than "just the minimum" needed to complete the task.  Best to be prepared, in other words.

Important Update: Expansion of the Battery Safety Recall and Replacement Program for HP Notebook Computers and Mobile Workstations announced in January 2018 – Additional Batteries Affected

 

HP urges customers to recheck all potentially affected products

 

In cooperation with various government regulatory agencies HP has announced an expansion of its worldwide voluntary safety recall and replacement program for certain notebook computer and mobile workstation batteries announced in January 2018. The potentially affected batteries may have been shipped with certain HP notebook computers and mobile workstations sold worldwide from December 2015 through April 2018.

 

The batteries have the potential to overheat, posing a fire and burn hazard to customers.  It is essential that you check or recheck your battery, even if you did so previously and were informed that it was not affected.

HP’s primary concern is for the safety of our customers. Because these batteries pose a fire and burn hazard, it is essential to visit the HP Battery Recall website at www.hp.com/go/batteryprogram2018 as soon as possible and check your battery.

Battery will not charge when system is warm to hot

If the “not charging” issue is (only) apparent when the system is running hot (or near that point), the battery and charge system are likely overheated as well – the charge system will resume operation when the computer cools down.  Short Version:  An overheated battery / computer / charging-system will not charge the battery – this is normal behavior.

Test system: HP Elite Pad 900 G1

Setup:  Tablet connected to docking station

Symptoms:  Shows 100% charge in battery – computer shuts off as soon as unplugged

Test (Solution):  Press and hold Power button and Reset button at the same time

Test (Solution):  Control Panel > icon view > Device Manager > Open Batteries > Right-ClickMicrosoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" > Uninstall > tab Action > Check for hardware changes (reinstalls the driver)
