I had an issue about a year and a half ago (late December 2019) where my keyboard was deforming, my laptop lid would no longer close, and the laptop would not sit flat (making it really difficult and annoying to type on). I contacted HP (through this very same forum) and after a series of emails and pictures back and forth, it was determined that my battery had "bloated" and needed to be replaced. After further back and forth, a battery was provided without charge - however, it was about $80 to have it replaced for me, so it was bitter sweet. The battery was replaced, the profile of the laptop went back to normal, everything seemed fine...or so I thought.
I use it with a docking station, and this morning I went to unhook it so I could take it with me on a work trip, and the battery has bloated again. I believe that I was under warranty the last time I contacted HP about this, and I requested a replacement computer because there was clearly something wrong with this one, but I was denied and sent the battery. Now I am definitely no longer under warranty, but I think at this point HP should replace this product with a similar or comparable product. This is honestly ridiculous at this point - I have had laptops for nearly two decades, all brands and models, and this has NEVER happened with any other product by any other manufacturer. When there was a defect in my car, they had a recall, and they fixed it - a friend of mine had his whole vehicle replaced because there wasn't a viable permanent solution for the problem. When I spend $1500 on a laptop, or on anything, I expect to perform routine maintenance...I DO NOT expect to have to play IT technician, replacing pieces and parts that should not need to be replaced or removed; these mini-devices are FILLED with tiny little parts, pieces, and screws that cannot be (and should not be) taken apart by a novice...regular people don't even have the right custom tools for the job...so we have to pay for someone else to fix these.
At this point, I feel that HP needs to make this permanently right, however that would be appropriate can be negotiated. I have been a loyal customer for years, I will continue to be; however, if I am not made whole at this point - after originally being very patient, compliant, and understanding - I can (and will) just find a different equipment manufacturer that finds value in my business and treats me as such.
Thank you.

Hi @ASdavidson,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
As this is a hardware issue, I'd suggest you Contact HP in your region regarding the service options for your computer.
If you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty. If yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from. Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it.
Have a great day!

Sorry Praveen, I don't know how to send you a private DM through here.
Yes, it is out of warranty at this point. The first time it happened, I didn't realize that this is what was causing the issue and I exchanged it through Best Buy. The second time, I believe it was still under warranty, but was only provided a replacement battery to replace myself. This time, I am sure it is not covered anymore, but this is an ongoing and documented issue with this laptop. The lid won't close, the bottom is separating from the frame in the front, it doesn't sit flat anymore - it's just not even usable as is, which is a shame because it isn't that old, I bought it with an i7 and other features so it would last me a while, and now I can't even really use it. Thanks again for the help.
