Common problems for Battery
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about: Battery Reports, Hold a charge, Test and Calibrating Battery . Check out this link: Is your notebook plugged in and not charging?
HP Recommended

Hello,
My HP support assistant indicates that the battery should be calibrated. I followed the instructions from the HP website and repeated with a manual calibration, and the assistant still shows that the battery needs calibration. I have run the battery test, and the battery is fine. The battery is not old or damaged at all.
Why does the HP calibration not work??

Hi @jamesnel2,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I Understand your concern about the calibration prompt keep coming up even after you’ve carefully followed the steps, don’t worry let me help you with this.

To better understand the issue, could you please provide a few more details?

  • The exact HP model you’re using
  • Whether you’ve recently updated BIOS or HP Support Assistant

Sometimes the calibration reminder can persist due to software rather than the battery itself. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  1. Update BIOS and HP Support Assistant
Make sure both are running the latest versions, as outdated software can cause false calibration prompts.
  2. Reset the battery status in HP Support Assistant
In some cases, clearing the battery history or reinstalling HP Support Assistant helps remove stuck alerts.
  3. Perform a hard reset
Shut down your laptop, disconnect the power adapter, and if removable take out the battery for a few minutes before reconnecting. This can refresh the system’s battery detection.
  4. Check Windows power settings
Sometimes custom power plans interfere with calibration detection. Try switching to the default “Balanced” plan and see if the prompt persists.
  5. Run HP Hardware Diagnostics (outside of Windows)
Restart your PC and press F2 to access diagnostics. Running the battery test here can confirm if the issue is purely software-related

I hope this helps.
