HP 17.3 inch Laptop PC 17-c0000 (2W0J6AV)
Microsoft Windows 11

This PC came with a 45 Watt charger which has an output of 19.5 V 2.31 A.  I have a 90 watt charger from a previous HP laptop which has an output of 19.5 V 4.62 A.

The previous charger fits into the new PC, is it safe to use the old charger in my new HP laptop?

Yes if the interface is the same using a higher powered charger with the same voltage is fine. The laptop will only use the power it needs while on and the higher powered adapter will actually charge the battery a little faster.
