Pavilion 15-2082Tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My Laptop only charges when it is in sleep or turned off or when I'm in the bios menu, as soon as the windows boots up it stops and runs on battery power. Please help, I purchased it only 2 months ago, so it's kind of shameful to have such issues so early !!

BIOS version- f.19

Hello, if your PC don't charge only when Windows start, it is maybe a driver problem..

Please right clic on "this PC", on clic to "manage". In the left column go to "devices manager". Double clic on "batteries" tab and right clic on all devices in this tab to "uninstall device". Tick the box for delete all the driver, and clic OK.
When all batteries devices are uninstalled, please reboot your PC and tell me if your battery is charging after Windows started.

If I have been answer to your question please accept it as a solution 🙂

Hi @Fanordi !

Tried it out, but didn't work. When I plug in the charger it only charges for few seconds and then stops and runs on battery.

It is strange if it is charging when you are In the BIOS.. Do you have updated all drivers with HP Support Assistant and install all Windows Updates?? Your problem appears after an update??

You can check Windows files with enter "cmd" in your Windows search bar, and right clic in "command prompt" for execute in administrator. Enter this command and tell me result:

sfc /scannow

Ran the command and got this- 'Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations.'

The charging in the bios that i referred...actually i concluded by seeing the charging light which was on and charging when i was in the bios menu.

Sorry ..missed it out

But everything is updated...all the drivers and the problem didn't happen after the Windows update

I think you need to verify if your PC is charging in BIOS.

Yup....got it verified

Before it was 29% on battery and after plugging it in the bios it came up to 33%

Hi @Fanordi again !!

Found the issue....it is the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and the AC adapter drivers.

I uninstalled both of it and didn't restart the laptop and now it is charging ...but it would just reinstall again on restarting and then the problem continued...any suggestions other than disabling it ???
