HP Notebook - 15-ba079dx (Touch) (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 11

I own an HP Notebook 15-ba079dx, and I am looking for a replacement battery. The original battery specifications, as per the official datasheet, are:

3-cell, 31Wh, 2.8Ah lithium-ion battery (Part Number: 807956-001), HS03.

However, I recently found that this part has been discontinued. The only available option in the market under the same part number (807956-001) HS04 is a 14.6V 4-cell battery instead of the original 10.95V 3-cell battery.

I would like to confirm:

1. Is the 14.6V 4-cell battery compatible with my HP Notebook 15-ba079dx?

2. If yes, will I need any BIOS update or configuration changes for it to function properly?

3. If no, could you suggest an alternative battery model that is fully compatible with my laptop?

From the Maintenance & Service guide for your laptop:

Compatible batteries

Battery
4-cell, 41-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery 807957-001
3-cell, 31-Whr, 2.8-Ah Li-ion battery 807956-001

I suggest searching online for a genuine HP 807957-001 battery like I just did.

See this link. This is a very long link so I shortened it with a link.

1. Is the 14.6V 4-cell battery compatible with my HP Notebook 15-ba079dx? The specification for the battery  is 14.64vdc, so yes.

2. If yes, will I need any BIOS update or configuration changes for it to function properly?  No

Thanks for response. The information provided by you is really helpful. Moving forward I have a question on Why did my Laptop came with 10.95v  3 cell battery when it supports 14.6v 4 cell battery?

HP Recommended

The specifications of the 807956-001 battery that your laptop uses is 14.8 vdc.

Where did you get that 10v number?

It is a moot point since the manual states what is published by HP as the voltage specification for your laptop's battery.
