I was consistently getting a "Battery Counterfeit Check Error" on power up of my laptop, so I contacted HP under my warranty and after multiple hours they were not able to resolve the issue. There final answer was to wipe my laptop and do a complete reset of the operating system and software. After giving this careful consideration and evaluating all the facts, I determined the problem has to be associated with the battery and not the operating system. So instead of wiping my laptop and having to spend days getting it back to where it would be usable again, I elected to purchase a new battery directly from HP, at my own expense, as low and behold it fixed the problem. I very disappointed in the HP support staff and their lack of understanding laptop issues. This may very well be the last time I purchase or recommend to anyone purchase a laptop from HP.
