HP Notebook - 15-dw0013no

Hello, i have a question. I have a hp-15-dw0013no, with a depleted HT03XL (L11421-423) battery. A friend of mine changed it for a TF03XL as a favour. Is it compatible? Will something happen if I keep this one? I plan on using the laptop for one/two more years perhaps, so it is fine if its not perfect. I have tried depleting its battery and charging it to max capacity to calibrate it, but it does not seem to calibrate for now.

Hi @oli20_19

The difference is that a HT03XL battery supports fast charging and TF03XL does not. Regarding the calibration error, this is due to the fact that the battery is not original and the manufacturer does not make it very compatible.

So, apart from the fast charging aspect and the whole calibration issue, I should not have any problems? Apologies for the ignorance, it is the first time I change a hardware part of one of my devices. Essentially, if it was not compatible I would already see it, no? The laptop works as normal, no problems whatsoever.

The replacement generic part numbered battery is likely  problematic because you did not use an original HP part numbered original battery.

That is not a compatible part for your laptop.

The battery management system chip on the replacement battery is just not in communication with the BMS chip in the laptop on the I2C/SM Bus.

The part number you should have used was HP L11119-855.

Parts reference source is the Maintenance & Service guide for your laptop model series

The biggest problem is quality, using non-original batteries may not be reliable, but if it works for you you can use it,

So, with this TF03XL, will I have any problems? Apologies for the ignorance, it is the first time I change a hardware part of one of my devices. Essentially, if it was not compatible I would already see it, no? The laptop works as normal, no problems whatsoever.

What do you mean when you say reliable? As in, my laptop will stop working, or as in, it will not last forever or work at its best performance (the battery).

the biggest problem that the manufacturer is not known, if the battery for some reason explodes, no one is responsible, but an HP battery has a warranty and if it explodes HP will most likely reward you with a new computer.

Of course, it is very unlikely that it will explode, what will happen is that it will last much less and perhaps when it needs to be calibrated it will not be able to do it.
