Battery indicator showing as 100% all the time, right up until it powers down due to low battery. I've checked other forum posts for similar issues but no solution found. Can't do the standard calibration as it requires the removal of the battery. My model has a fixed battery. This appears to be a known issue but I can't find a known solution.
Running windows 10 home, Build 14393, 64 bit.

Welcome to HP Forums,
This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips,
Thank you for posting your query, I'll be more than glad to help you out 🙂
As I understand the battery indicator is always at 100%,
No worries, as I'll be glad to help you, that said, I'll need a few more details to dissect your concern & provide an accurate solution:
Did you reinstall the battery drivers?
Or updated the BIOS?
(Click here to find and install the updates, if you haven't done it yet)
While you check that out, here's what next on the menu:
- Unplug the charge and use the laptop until the battery drains to 15%.
- Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.
- Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager,
- Restart the computer and the issue should be fixed.
Let me know how that pans out
I hope you have a good day ahead,
And Feel free to ask any other queries as well,
Considering, this forum has some of the best people in the world available and ready to help.

I have carried out all of the suggested except performing a BIOS update. The battery check utility says the battery is operating normally. There seems to be a slight change in how this works now. The battery stays on 100% for ~30mins then starts to run down slowly. It usually shuts down when it is around 50-60%. So, looks like a calibration issue. I'm currently using the laptop unplugged until it shuts down then recharging fully and repeating. See if this helps toward calibration.

Hello! I have a Pavilion 15 au028TU. I also have an Asus K55A.
In the Asus, when my battery is charged fully, the built-in circuit will disconnect the battery from continuing charging. Then the laptop will use the AC power (through adapter). After a while, the battery will fall under 100% and when the percentage is between 95-100%, there is "plugged in, not charging". That's normal to me I understand this
I also read this information on this article https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00596784 ("How does the notebook charge the battery" section)
But the pavilion doesn't have "plugged in, not charging". My battery is always 100% while plugging in, even when I plug in and use the computer for several days, the battery doesn't fall down under 100%, above 94% (as the article says). Also, my battery wear (shown on BatteryBar software) is always 0% and I have used my laptop for about 1 year.
Is it normal? I worry about this because if it shows 100% all the time, that means my battery is always charged until I unplug the adapter

Charge, use and recharge is what I do very often, not everyday, but for about 3 days one cycle I think, because I use adapter power for 3 days (while I use AC power, my laptop is still plugged in), then use the battery.
As I understand, battery will not be charged when it's full and above 94%.
My problem is it doen't fall down under 100% while I plug in for several days. From my knowledge, I think when the battery is full and I continue plugging in, the laptop will use the AC power. At that time, battery isn't charged, so it will lose a little energy and when it reaches 94% (I know this number from HP artile), the charge will start again from 94 to 100%. That's a thing doesn't happen to me, I always see my battery 100%.

I appreciate your time and efforts,
I'm glad the concern has been resolved at a certain level,
However, since you've mentioned that the issue is not completely resolved and the battery shuts down due to low battery, I recommend you run the testing and calibrating the battery test: Click here for instructions.
I recommend you ( @ntd252 ) run the same test as well, to identify and resolve the issue accordingly.
If I have helped you resolve the issue,
Feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon
Followed by clicking on 'Accepted as Solution'
And Have a great day ahead!

Thank you for responding,
It's great to have you back 😉
Have you completed the calibration test of the battery, if yes, what were the results?
And if not, please do it in order to understand and resolve the same.
That said, If the battery remains 100% while connected to the adapter, it's normal, however, if it shutsdown as soon as it's disconnected from the adapter or it's depleting too quickly, it's a hardware malfunction and I recommend you Contact HP to get this done:
HP Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true
(1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
(2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
(3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
(4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get the phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately.
If the unit is under warranty repair services under the manufacturer's warranty will be free of charge.
If I have answered your queries, feel free to give me a virtual high-five by clicking the 'Thumbs Up' icon below,
Followed by clicking on "Accept as solution" button for my efforts to help you.
Have a great day!
