I am pretty much committed to answering questions here. Give me specific part numbers of the laptop (Zbook G3 mobile workstation is likely enough) and be very specific on the GPU that you wish to install. I can link you to videos, manuals, etc. The process is not as hard as it seems since the Zbook 15 G3 has an easy open access plate in the back and this can be done without removing the motherboard. The big thing is to get the right heatsink and not every MXM Quadro GPU will work. If its Dell logoed I am skeptical it will work although it might.

Hello,
I have a Zbook 15 G3 Mobile workstation. This version only integrated card (HD 530). I'm buyed a correct heat pipe for NVIDIA Quadro. And I'm buyed an Nvidia Quadro M2000M( https://www.ebay.com/itm/335035822292). This Item is DELL 051FCV version. Read below what I experienced.
The card arrived, and install it. In Windows Device manager looking my card as standard gpu card. But the device ID (Subvendor Id) is HP (in GPU-Z too).
I was thinking about this, how is this possible? It was a BIOS change? But how? Then I installed a driver package that also contained the identifier in the device manager (10DE:13B0:103C:80D5 This is a HP vendor id).The card has been recognized. If If the bios was set the discrete mode workin Without error . The card did not work in hybrid or auto mode in windows 10(22H2), only work the HD 530 integrated card. The other problem was that if I only switched to discrete mode to be able to use the M2000M card, then sleep mode did not work properly(example Power button). Then the machine waited a little more time (with black screeen) and Windows 10 restarted completely. I looking at the powercfg command, S3 mode did not exist in discrete mode.
What is the solution? Flashing vbios to dell? The install with Inf mod file? or will it become as brick?
The card in working discrete mode is perfect: in device manager = NVIDIA QUADRO M2000M, working NVIEW in windows, only the sleep mode not working. But this mode is required for my work.
I was thinking that the bios should be set to work?
Many thanks Huffer!

I have exactly the same card in mine and also noted the M2000M only works in discrete mode in the BIOS....not integrated or hybrid. My computer is pretty much always on so I have not noticed any problem with sleep. But sleep problems can be caused by a bad driver. In my device manager only the M2000M shows up. Driver is listed as Nvidia 5/30/23 31.0.15.2908

Can you try the sleep mode, then wake up? what is your experience on your zbook?
Could you give me the exact bios setting? Power management menu and all possible options related to the card or sleep mode. I will try to replace the driver with the one you have. but if it doesn't work. do you think the hp bios on the dell card needs to be changed? if so, how can I find out the real vendor ID code of the dell card? Or any dell M2000M bios will work for it?
thanks

I will pull mine off the dock today and look for these settings and post and will try sleep and wake. I never flashed the vbios on mine so not sure which version I have. I don't think you are going to improve the situation by flashing Dell vbios to the card.

My BIOS settings in the pictures below. I tried sleep and wake and it worked perfectly. As I said, the MXM card in my laptop looks the same as yours but I am pretty sure it is an HP part numbered piece. I got it from a guy who had purchased several units with bad screens and parted them out so I got the heatsink and MXM card from him likely 4 or 5 years ago and has worked perfectly. Just enough video power for my work which involves some occasional video editing and CAD-like stuff.

Hello Huffer, Many thanks the infos!
I have similar settings in Bios.
My M2000M is DELL 051FCV (M2000M). Only the bios is HP. Do you think I should change the card bios to original dell? Is your DELL or HP bios on M2000M?
Which card is yours from pictures? The red square is different position on HP or Dell card. I hope I'm close to the solution. Only the sleep mode to wake up mode the problem.
