I received a popup on my laptop regarding potential battery issues due to wear or cold temperatures. I was also facing frequent issues with battery, so i checked my battery report. It shows
| FULL CHARGE CAPACITY | 13,051 mWh |
, while
| DESIGN CAPACITY | 52,552 mWh |
So, it is very low. Is this due to cold weather or do i need to replace my battery?

HI @Toss29,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query.
It seems that your battery's full charge capacity is significantly below its design capacity. A full charge capacity of 13,051 mWh compared to a design capacity of 52,552 mWh indicates a substantial decrease in battery health.
Calibrate the Battery:
- Occasionally, recalibrating the battery can help improve the accuracy of the charge capacities reported. How to calibrate the battery manually.
Temperature Control:
- Ensure your laptop is used and stored within recommended temperature ranges to avoid unnecessary stress on the battery.
Battery Replacement:
- Given the significant reduction in capacity, it may be prudent to consider replacing the battery to ensure optimal performance.
- A battery functioning at only about 25% of its design capacity will likely not suffice for extended use anymore.
Check HP Diagnostics
- Shutdown the device.
- Restart the device, immediately press on power button once and keeping tapping on F2
- Click on component test
- Click on Power or battery and run the Test.
Take care and have an amazing day!
