HP AU003TX
Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

I was palying game when the whole screen went black. Nothing was working so I forced shutdown the laptop and when restarted it showed updating on the screen.

It was working fine but as soon I removed charging cable the laptop turned off and now it won't start without charger attached.

My battery is showing 99% available (plugged in, not charging). On HP PC hardware diagnostics battery check is showing result as cancelled while rest are showing passed.

What should I do ?

The laptop is around 4 years old so if thats the original battery replace it and see which problems that fixes and then we can focus on any it does not fix.

It isn't 4 years old. Its just about 2 years from purchase.

Well I was a little off. Introduced in early 2016. Regardless if you are not convinced its the battery then run a hardware diagnostic on it. Turn off tap esc as you power up and then F2 for component tests and test battery, hard drive and memory with the long tests and post results back. We know something is not right and its a matter of identifying what that is.

Like @Huffer  I do think the battery needs to be replaced.

But first make sure your BIOS is upto date.

HP Notebook System BIOS Update (Intel Processors)

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-pavilion-15-au000-notebook-pc-series/1...

Install and reboot.

Version: F.46 Rev.A

Fixed in this release: - Provides improved security.

Version: F.45 Rev.A

Fixed in this release: - Fixes an intermittent issue where the system battery does not recharge completely. - Provides the updated Intel CPU microcode to improve system stability and security.

Version: F.44 Rev.A

Version: F.42 Rev.A

Fixed in this release: - Fixes an issue where the battery information is reported incorrectly. - Provides improved battery health when the system is connected to an AC adapter.
- Provides improved security of UEFI code.

Next would be make sure UEFI is upto date.

HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-pavilion-15-au000-notebook-pc-series/1...

- Added support for new battery data structure.
- Added enhancements to Power Source Test when battery is not available.

- Improve Battery Test to support multiple batteries

- Add improvement to System Battery Information page

- Added new Power Test which combines the AC Adapter Test and Battery Check Test.

Install and reboot.

Then try running the battery test again.

@REO51ST  has a good point but I would advise to go easy on BIOS updates if the system is unstable. If it shuts down unexpectedly in the middle of a BIOS flash we might have a larger issue on our hands. But ultimately updating BIOS and UEFI is in the cards.

Can I have the battery replaced at the HP service centre ? Because I read at other discussion that its battery is not available at hp store. And what its cost would be.

I had reserves on say anything @Huffer

I hate mentioning a BIOS update at any time and with a DEAD battery it could lead to other problems if it does shutdown???

Maybe it would be best to wait until after the battery replacement???

Yes get the battery replaced first. In India I believe you can have it done at an HP Service Center but I would try to call or drop in first to see if they have the battery in stock. They may not. If they do not and you don't want to try to do it yourself you will have to find a shop to do it.
