OMEN HP 15-ax256nr
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

So I have an HP Omen 15-ax256n6 running a Win 10 (64-bit)....i recently acquired from a pawn shop so I'm aware that comes with risks. But i did a full check on the laptop and everything seems to work perfectly except one thing the BATTERY. Although I did a proper battery check without the AC adapter the HP website said the battery was in good condition. BUT the issue i'm having is that the laptop recognizes the AC adapter for 15-30 seconds and then the battery icon disappears and the laptop is no longer charging (the laptop charges just fine when turned completely off). My girlfriend who also has the same laptop as I do allowed me to use her AC adapter (to make sure I didn't have a bad adapter) and unfortunately I got the same result. I have tried 2 troubleshoot options: Windows-X, Device manager and then uninstalled the options under the Battery category and then restarted the laptop. End Result: the same . I also took the cover off and checked the battery for loose connections and everything was connected just fine no loose cables. I was told to remove the battery and try to operate the laptop without the battery to see if the issue would correct itself BUT I would seriously like a few second opinions before i result to doing that.

Any help is appreciated...Thanks.

@VegaBoi I'm glad you and your girlfriend checked with an alternate adapter and have narrowed it down to being a battery issue, that's good work, that said, here's a few other things you could do, to identify and resolve the battery issue:

I have a few steps listed below that should help you resolve this concern:

Unplug the charge, Turn off the laptop and turn it back on after 30mins.

Reinstalled Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery under device manager:

1) In the search box, type and open “Device Manager”.

2) Expand “Batteries”.

3) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

4) Click on “Uninstall”.

5) At the prompt put a check in the box to remove the current driver

6) Shutdown the computer.

7) Remove the battery for a minute and then put it back in. (Skip this step if you have a non removable battery)

8 - When the computer comes back up it should automatically find the driver.

9) Go to Device Manager.

10) Expand Batteries.

11) Right-click the "Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery" that is listed there.

12) Click "Search automatically for updated driver software"

Do the same thing with Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Embedded Controller.

If the issue persists, run a battery and adapter test using the steps mentioned in this link: Click here

@VegaBoi If the battery tests passed, however, the device stops charging after a while though the power adapter is connected, this could mean that the DC power connector on the system board is faulty, and needs to be replaced, I suggest you talk to HP support and discuss your options, follow the below steps to get started:

1) Click on this link - http://www.hp.com/contacthp/

2) Click on Sign-in or select the product using the below step:

3) Enter the serial of your device.

4) Select the country from the drop-down.

5) Click on "Show Options".

Fill the web-form, to populate a case number and phone number for yourself!

Also, if you are having trouble navigating through the above options, it's most likely because the device is out of warranty, if yes? please send me a private message with the region you are contacting us from,

i never mentioned that my laptop shuts down after the adapter is disconnected thats not the issue i'm having. My issue is when the adapter is plugged in it will charge for a few seconds and then it stops charging despite the charger still being plugged in. Thats my issue STILL. But I've exhausted all options and im clueless to what else to do since I've already troubleshooted several different ways as mentioned in my original post. My last resort is to either get a new battery or a new charging port unless there is another route i can take to troubleshoot this issue?

@VegaBoi That's actually what I meant to say, I've updated my post accordingly,

and I suggest you make use of the instructions I sent to contact HP and have this sorted.
