Battery Replacement Options in Pavilion dm4-1xxx series Notebooks

I am looking at options to replace a battery in an HP Pavilion dm-1xxx series laptop, specically dm4-1050ea and dm4-1164nr and dm4-1150ea, but  I am confused over battery compatibility.

The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide

(http://www.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02615687.pdf) gives

  9-cell, 93-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593550-001

  6-cell, 55-WH (2.55-Ah) Li-ion :  553594-001

  6-cell, 62-WH (2.80-Ah) Li-ion : 593562-001

so any of these 3 are interchangeable between the -1050ea and the -1150ea ? no, it seems not - read on....

but I see that in the manual for the dm4-1164nr (also the M&S Guide for dm4-1140sa and dm4-1150ea, I now learn), also titled The HP manual, HP Pavilion dm4 Entertainment PC Maintenance and Service Guide (http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c03106715),  that while the lower rated batteries have the same p/n, the higher rated on is described as

9-cell, 100-WH (3.0-Ah) Li-ion : 636631-001

Are these two 9-cell batteries interchangeable, ot not ?  They must have physically the same form because they both accept the same lower rated batteries and also have the same elec. spec - 10.8V ? If they  not compatible, can I be instructed as to why not ? (eg, they aren't the size, incorrect pin-out, internal resistance too high/low, etc)

I see that the maintenance and service manual are split into 10xx and 11xx versions, but question regarding the 9-cell batteries still stands.

The 636631-001 is uses by more than 200 products

and it replaces  593550-001 as shown:

    Battery - 9-cell 100Wh 3.0Ah MUO9100-CL
Part 593550-001 is no longer supplied. Please order the replacement, 636631-001

Thank you for that answer.  It is clear.

However, if I follow the first link you give, and then on that page use the link "Part number 636631-001 is used in more than 200 HP products. Click here to see the complete list of products.", the list, in fact no list, appears.  I have tried this in 2 browsers.
