HP Pavilion - 15-cs3001ni
Microsoft Windows 11

I used HP PC Hardware Diagnostics to determine that my laptop battery is old and needs to be replaced.  Can I purchase a battery and replace it myself?  I live in quite a remote area so that's much easier than taking it to a dealer for replacement.

@SandyYK,

Welcome to our HP User Forum!

Your HP Pavilion - 15-cs3001ni (8UJ06EA) requires an HT03XL* replacement battery, and a purchase example is this one: https://www.amazon.com/HT03XL-L11119-855-15-CS0053CL-15-DA0014DX-HSTNN-UB7J/dp/B0B7JH78XN/ref=sr_1_1....

* In order to verify what model battery you got, here is a user-friendly YouTube instructional video how to access (and replace) your battery: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mjxMjGL6RFQ.

Reason why it would be helpful to check your battery's model, is because some sources suggest that your laptop could need an LG04XL model battery, such as this purchase example: https://www.amazon.com/Tesurty-Pavilion-15-CS1110TX-15-CS0006NK-15-CS1111TX/dp/B09LLPB6ZP/ref=sr_1_5..., but the battery you need is almost certainly the first model (HT03XL) as mentioned.

The two batteries are quite different, and you would be able to easily recognize what model you need:

Again, you likely need "Type B" (HT03XL).

Hope this was helpful.

Thanks for the feedback.  I thought, after updating the BIOS that all my problems were sorted and I just needed to replace the battery.  Unfortunately, that is not the case. 😞  My screen flashes through black and lines sometimes but then goes back to working at times.  This is only when my graphic card is enabled.  It stops flashing completely when the graphic card is disabled.  This only happened after upgrading to Windows 11.  I've checked that the software is up-to-date.laptop_screen_issue - frame at 0m0s._2.jpglaptop_screen_issue - frame at 0m0s.jpglaptop_screen_issue - frame at 0m0s_3.jpglaptop_screen_issue - frame at 0m0s_4.jpglaptop_screen_issue - frame at 0m1s.jpglaptop_screen_issue - frame at 0m1s_5.jpglaptop_screen_issue - frame at 0m1s_6.jpglaptop_screen_issue - frame at 0m1s_7.jpg

@SandyYK,

That is very unfortunate indeed, and a most unwelcome issue.

Problem is that your issue could be caused by a number of things, and in my opinion needs to be looked at by someone in person -preferably, that is.

Is your laptop still under warranty?  -In that case, first thing you should do is reach out to HP and see what they can do for you.  If your laptop is not under warranty, consider taking it to a local PC repair shop or to a trusted relative/colleague/friend with PC repair skills who is willing to take a look at it.

Kind Regards,
