If this problem still exists and the Diagnostic Tests cannot "catch" everything, it is a technical problem that only HP or a computer service can diagnose and solve.

Unfortunately, I can't wave a magic wand. My options are exhausted...

Kind regards

The issue can be one of a few things.

If the Power/Charge led does not light up when the power adapter is plugged it it could be a failed power adapter or a broken system board header where the power adapter plugs into the notebook.

It could be a failed battery

A failed component , usually a short, amongst the components of the charge circuit(a MOSFET, Capacitor, zero-ohm resistor(fuse).

There are laptop shops that have competant technicians who can troubleshoot and replace the bad component. Most shops prefer to replace the system board in the interests of the time they are willing to invest.

Many thanks for your help Ub6424, at least we sorted out the BIOS not updating.  Fully understand some things are complex, but appreciate the help.

It may be worthwhile to consider taking it to a shop.

I wouldn't bother with a battery as it isn't charging.

There is a competent shop called AdamantPC in England that does down to component repairs.

You can see him on YouTube as well.

(3) You should ask yourself beforehand whether a repair is worth it if the notebook is already older and no longer has a warranty anyway and is equipped with outdated technology. A new notebook, not too cheap and not too expensive, should bring an improvement in the long run. It's best to go to a computer store and try out different models from several manufacturers before making a decision.

Thanks @erico for great contribution !

Kind regards
