Microsoft Windows 10 (32-bit)

Battery indicator light says battery charged, meter says 92 to 94%. Battery calibration was recommended. Performed F2 diagnostics. Battery good, needs calibrating. Calibration  starts, runs approx. 2 min. test cancels, message says software error (21). Tried several times, same results. HP 2000 notebook, windows 10.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are having issues calibrating the battery.

Don’t worry, I’d love to help!

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to follow below steps and check if it helps.

Step 1: Click the Windows “Start” button and right-click “Computer.”

Step 2: Click “Manage,” then “Device Manager.”

Step 3: Click the “Batteries” section. A list of devices will appear.

Step 4: Right-click the “Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery” device and click “Uninstall.”

Step 5: Click the “Action” menu item and “Scan for Hardware Changes” to reinstall the driver.

Let me know how it goes and you have a good day ahead.

Thanks for your reply, The Fossette.  The pc  was working fine approx. 2 weeks ago. It stays shut off sometime for a while. I haven't made any changes to my knowledge. I did have to uninstall  the wireless driver and reinstall, it would not  stay connected to the internet. That cured that problem. I tried your method, then did the F2  test again. Same result software error. Thanks ML-56

Hello The Fossette again, went to the site you suggested  I have Windows 10 and they claim they have no downloadable material for that. Such is my luck. I must admit I'm not very computer savvy so bear with me. Thanks again ML -56

Hello again The Fossette, sorry for the delay, haven't had much time to troubleshoot this week. PC was turned off this week, went to turn  on ,wouldn't turn on. Ended up taking battery out then reinstalling, worked. Then it wouldn't hold the internet connection again, had to uninstall then reinstall drive  a couple of times  finally worked. I did nothing to this unit for it to be giving me so many problems, don't get it. When you get to the list of programs 10 is not listed for my unit. I know you said to download 8 then upgrade how is this done? Unfortunately I am very computer ignorant as far as these procedures. Would I be better off having someone fix it or is it as easy as you say. Thanks ,ML -56
