Common problems for Battery

My battery caught on fire and burnt the table it was sitting on and some papers next to it. If I did not arrive at home when I did, my entire house would have burned down. My warranty has expired, what is my next course of action? Do I get a laywer? The battery was still 134 degrees 4 hours later!

Hi @Batteryonfire,

Welcome to the HP support community.

Thank you for sharing the images. I'm so sorry you had to experience something like this — just imagining the smell of smoke, the sight of burnt paper and scorched wood, and the shock of seeing your device in flames is unsettling. It could have been so much worse, and we’re genuinely grateful that you’re safe and that this didn’t escalate into a full-blown house fire.

Given that your image clearly shows burn marks on your table and a calendar visibly burnt, this is now classified as a potential product safety incident.

Even though your warranty has expired, HP has protocols in place for investigating serious safety events, especially those involving damage.

Please let us know:

  • Were you or anyone else injured during the incident?
  • Was any other property (e.g., electronics, furniture, documents) damaged?

If you are open to it, we’d like to take this conversation to a private channel so we can collect more details and escalate this to the appropriate HP Product Safety team.

Please help us with your HP unit serial number or the product number in a private message for further assistance.
