Hello,

It is the second time I notice that: when I plug the cable to charge the laptop, it doesn't charge more than 90%, now it's plugged since more than 1 hour. I don't know when it started (probably after some Windows update), I just noticed it today for the second time.

And sorry for my English, it's not my native language 🙂

Many thanks for your help!

@Oiddocrop Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that Battery doesn't charge more than 90%

Please uninstall the ACPI drivers

Right-Click on start button> click device manager> Batteries>then select the s drivers and right-click on it and uninstall all battery drivers.

Then restart the computer and check again.

Link for battery testing and calibration

Also, update the BIOS.

Hello @Praveen196 🙂

So, the  "Test the battery using HP Hardware Diagnostic" does't work. It says it's not working and to contact HP assistance, wow!

After writing here, I've tried few times to discharge the battery until pc turns out and this solution seemed working: it charget up to 91%, 92% and 93% till today: now it's plugged but only charged till 86%.... EVEN WORSE!!!!

I'll try the suggestions you wrote by first uninstalling the ACPI drivers. I will keep up-to-date 🙂

Bye!

Hello @Praveen196 !

So now after uninstalling drivers and updating bios it's charging until 99% - the last 1% is missing since a couple months or so and I don't know why 😕

Many thanks!

I understand your concerns.

Try updating the computer, this will install the latest updates -

Step 1 Windows Updates -

1) In the search box, type, and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Step 2 Install updates using HP Support Assistant

  1. In the search box, type, and open HP Support Assistant.
  2. Check for updates.
  3. If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

Note: If you do not have HP Support Assistant installed, Click here to download the same.

Have a nice day!!

Hi @Praveen196

I've tried, but still missing the last 1%.

This is normal behaviour on Windows 10 I think. My non-HP devices do the exact same thing. It's the way Windows 10 is handling the battery. Because charging it from anywhere between 60 to 100% fully, making it full will only degrade the battery quicker so if it isn't charging to the max, it'll stop it from wearing out early.
