@MichaelDS27, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand how frustrating it can be when your laptop battery stops charging, especially on your HP 15s-fq4045nd (Product Number: 832H4EA). Let’s walk through some steps to identify and resolve the issue.
Perform a Hard Reset
Sometimes, a hard reset can resolve charging issues:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the AC adapter.
- Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
- Reconnect the adapter and try turning it on.
Check Battery Health Using HP Diagnostics
HP provides a built-in tool to check battery condition:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately press Esc repeatedly, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
- Select Component Tests > Power > Battery.
- Run the battery test and note the results.
You can also use the HP Support Assistant:
- Download or open HP Support Assistant.
- Go to Battery Check under the Battery tab.
Update BIOS and Drivers
Outdated BIOS or drivers can cause charging issues:
- Visit the HP Software and Driver Downloads page.
- Enter your product name: 15s-fq4045nd and download the latest BIOS, chipset, and power management drivers.
Battery Reset (if removable)
If your model has a removable battery (most 15s models do not), try removing it and powering on with just the adapter. If it powers on, the battery may be faulty.
Inspect Battery Status in Windows
- Press Windows + X > Device Manager.
- Expand Batteries.
- Right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery > Uninstall device.
- Restart your laptop. Windows will reinstall the driver automatically.
If the battery test shows it’s weak or failed, it may need replacement. Then, please visit the nearest HP authorized service center, the service team will check and assist you.

I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
