Microsoft Windows 11

How to care about battery? it shows approximately 200 cycle on battery, and my battery backup is almost 1-2 hours less as compared to new condition. I Play games on plugin condition not on battery. Like other brands they limits battery on 80% to 90%. Is there any settings that limit battery on certain % to prevent over charge.

Hi @Maaz12

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand that your battery drains quickly. I'd like to help!

Are you getting any warnings to replace the battery?
Did you make any changes or change the battery?

Meanwhile, you answer that, follow the battery calibration steps from the document here, and keep me posted on the result. If possible with screenshots.

May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID, etc.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Sir, is there any setting or application that can limit battery at 80 % charging Or prevent over charge?

Hi @Maaz12

Thanks for your reply.

Check to see if your laptop has the latest BIOs update.

Please see if your BIOS has the "Battery Care Function" option under System Configuration and if it does, set it to 80%.

Or if "Battery Care Function" is absent, follow the steps to change the battery care function:

  • Turn off your laptop, and then connect the power cord if it is not already connected.
  • Turn on your laptop, and then repeatedly hit the F10 key to open the BIOS Setup Utility.
  • Using the arrow keys, select Advanced, and then select Power Management Options.
  • Click the Battery Health Manager drop-down menu to review the setting options and then select the appropriate setting:

Let HP manage my battery charging

  • Use this setting to have the system balance charging between battery health and battery duration. The latest version of the Battery Health Manager dynamically changes how it charges the battery based on usage conditions and temperature over time.
  • Maximize my battery health: Use this setting if the computer stays plugged into the power adapter most of the time. This setting maximizes battery health by lowering the maximum battery charge level to 80%. The ability to store additional charge in a battery becomes less efficient after 80% and can add additional stress to the battery over time.
  • Maximize my battery duration: Use this setting if you need your battery to last as long as possible between charges. The battery charges to 100% to provide maximum run time between charges.

Hope this was helpful. Have a great day.
