Hi, I just bought a new HP Envy from the HP website. However, I find that each day that I turn on the laptop, it has lost something like 50% of its battery power overnight. How can that be? Is it running something in the background while it's sleeping? Someone in my class said his was doing that and he found out that Zoom was waking his computer up at night even when it was off. But mine says no apps were using the battery at night. What could it be? One clue is that one day I noticed that my external harddrive that is plugged into it was lit up even when the computer is off, though since that one day the light goes off when the computer goes to sleep... though it's in a different port now. Maybe it's one of the USB ports that doesn't go to sleep when the computer is off?? I am doing a full shut down, not just closing the lid or putting it in hibernation. Please help -- thank you!

Hi @Jaime36,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing battery issues with your HP Envy Notebook wherein it drains even after shutdown.
I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to disable fast startup.
1. Press Windows Key + S and enter power. Choose Power & sleep settings from the search results.
2. In the right pane, scroll down to the Related settings section and click Additional power settings.
3. The Power Options window will open. In the left pane, select Choose what the power button does.
4. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
5. Disable Turn on fast startup (recommended) option and click Save changes button.

I hope this helps and have a nice day ahead.
