HP Spectre x360 Convertible
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

(First all I do not know if I am posting in the right board). I have a HP Spectre x360 Convertible P5P13EA#ABU (which as a whole I really like), but I have a small problem with it. If I switch on after not using it for a few day I notice that has been some power drain?

I do not know what is causing this and how to sort it out so that it does NOT power drain while it is switched off?

Any help or advice would be gratefully accepted.

Nik

That's strange I copy and pasted the link. I will try 1 more time.

If that does not work then go to "notebooks" section of HP forums then go to "Hardware" section. There will be a topic in there titled "Battery drain when shut down (HP Spectre x360)"

It is normal for a battery to drain even when it is not in use and a batteries ability to hold a charge decreases over time.

You can click this link for instructions how to Test and Calibrate your Battery

Yes I agree, but I have a brand new laptop (well it is about three weeks old)!

How much power drain are you seeing after a few days?

Please use the instructions in my previous post to Test / Calibrate the battery.

About 9%

I have ran a HP test tool on the laptop and it found no faults?

Doesn't seem to be what I would consider excessive.

Please double check that the system is shutting down and not actually going into sleep mode instead.

Do you push the physical Power Button, click the Start Menu Power Off or simply close the lid?

Please double check your settings in the Power Options menu in Control Panel.

Here is some other information that you may find useful.

In particular the 'Battery Use' link in the Battery Saver section will give you a basic sense of what system components are consuming power and in what time frame.

So a nearly 10% drop in battery whilst the laptop is switched off is not excessive!

I thought that when the laptop is switched off there is nothing that is using any power. Plus a modern battery should be better at holding the power within it?

Batteries will drain even when not being used and in some cases power can be used even when 'off'.

That being said, there are many others users complaining about poor battery life with the Spectre x360 series computers.

As I suggested in my previous post please check your power options to be sure that the system is actually turning off and not only going into Sleep Mode.

I also suggest that you go to the Software & Downloads page for your system, click on the 'Software & Drivers' link then click the 'Run' button in Option #1 which will check for any system updates that may address the problem.

* I would provide the link for you but you did not specify exactly which model of Spectre you have.

* How to find Model / Product Number

I have a HP Spectre x360 Convertible Model number: P5P13EA#ABU.

I ran a battery test and this is the result: 20151226_133320.jpg

(Is 97%  charge capacity ok for a nearly new laptop?).

Please go to this page and click the "Check Now" button.

HP will scan your system for any outdated or missing software and drivers.

Updating your system to all the newest software may help with your problem.

I wasn't able to view the image you posted, seems to be happening lately on the forum.
