So what is causing the battery to drain when turned off on a new Omen?

Actually the only thing that really works on a HP laptop is to do the shutdown.exe /s /t 0 shortcut and then hold the button down for 15 seconds after shutdown. This took a day of trouble shooting to narrow down the issue and trying various supposedly guaranteed fixes. HP has a known issue in this area.
HP needs to fix this as I have several other brands that loose no power at all after shutdown.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the battery is draining when the computer is turned off.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you update the BIOS from the below link and test.
