Ok my question is  I have an HP Victus 15. It suddenly started having a problem where it fully charges in a few minutes and then discharges after a little use. This problem has suddenly started occurring.

Hi @ShinchanDon2224

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m sorry you’re facing this sudden battery behavior—it must feel frustrating when the charge fills up unnaturally fast and then drains just as quickly. You’ve already done well to notice the pattern, which helps us focus on the right checks.

Let’s go through steps that can help stabilize the battery readings and performance:

Power reset

  • Shut down the notebook completely.
  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge residual signals.
  • Reconnect the adapter and restart.

Battery calibration cycle

  • Charge the battery to 100% and leave it connected for 2 hours after it shows full.
  • Disconnect the adapter and use the notebook until the battery drains to about 5–7%.
  • Recharge back to 100% without interruption.
  • This helps the system relearn the battery’s charge and discharge range.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

  • Restart the notebook and press F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the battery test and note the results.
  • This confirms whether the battery is reporting correctly to the system.

Update BIOS and drivers

  • Outdated firmware can cause incorrect battery readings.
  • Visit: HP Notebook PCs – Updating the BIOS
  • Install the latest BIOS for your HP Victus 15 model.
  • Also update chipset and power management drivers from the same support page.

Check Windows power settings

  • In Windows 11, go to Control Panel > Power Options.
  • Ensure the plan is set to Balanced.
  • Avoid high‑performance mode unless needed, as it can drain the battery faster.

HP App battery test

  • Open the HP App on your PC.
  • Go to Device Settings > Diagnostics > Battery Health.
  • Run the test to compare system readings with HP’s tool.

You’ve already taken the right step by observing the sudden change. With calibration, diagnostics, and firmware updates, the battery should feel more consistent and give you reliable usage time again.
