Hello all,

My laptop battery exploded last night, catching fire. From the looks if it,only the battery appears damaged. My warranty's expired so wanna know what are the other possible options I can explore. Also is it possible for the fire to not have damaged my laptop internals and data cause apart from the battery area everything else looks intact?Really concerned, can't even get it to a local repair shop cause of lockdown and being a CS student with online classes these days, having my laptop damaged puts my entire semester at stake. Please help me explore possible solutions and give me a rough idea of the extent of damage such a fire can cause.

That is unfortunate.  I am sorry that happened.

  • I have asked that someone take a look.
  • Know that because we are not HP Technical Support, we are not a direct conduit to HP.
  • When there is a response, the moderator / agent will (should) post back here before using other methods to contact you.
  • Do not contact random numbers posted in a public or private message by “new members”.  Vermin are looking for victims.

Note to those reading:

  • Please do not post any personal or case information here - we cannot make use of the data.
  • Posting personal information at a public site places your privacy at risk from vermin.

I recommend that nothing be plugged into the wall outlet that was used to charge the computer until that outlet is checked.
