HP OMEN 15-CE062ND
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Laptop didn't start anymore. CapsLock 5.3 message. I opened up de laptop en removed the battery. Without battery the laptop does function 'normally'.  So I think ik have to buy a new battery. But how do I know if there is really a battery failure.

Can I double check this myself. A new battery costs around € 140,-. That's quite a lot.

Anyone tips?

This error indicates an embedded controller failure.

Sometimes, the follow steps reset the controller:

Disconnect the power supply and power the computer with battery power. This resets the Embedded Controller/Keyboard Controller.
  1. Unplug the AC power from the computer.
  2. Press and hold the power button for more than 12 seconds.
  3. Release the power button (after at least 12 seconds).
The computer powers on and should boot normally.
  4. Re-connect the AC power to the computer.
