Hi @sholzh1

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

That’s definitely a headache—especially when you’re relying on your laptop and it just won’t juice up. Let’s walk through a few steps to help get your laptop charging again:

🔌 Step-by-Step Fixes for Charging Issues

1. Check the Basics

  • Make sure the charger is securely connected to both the laptop and a working wall outlet.
  • Try a different outlet to rule out power source issues.
  • Inspect the charging cable and adapter for any visible damage or loose connections.

2. Perform a Hard Reset

  • Shut down the laptop completely.
  • Unplug the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect everything and power it back on.

3. Run Battery Diagnostics

  • Use the built-in HP PC Hardware Diagnostics tool:
    • Press Esc repeatedly while turning on the laptop.
    • Select F2 for diagnostics.
    • Run the Battery Test to check battery health and charging status.

4. Update Battery Drivers

  • Open Device Manager.
  • Expand Batteries.
  • Right-click on each item under it and choose Update driver.

5. Check Power Settings

  • Go to Control PanelPower Options.
  • Make sure your power plan allows charging and isn’t set to limit battery use.

6. Update BIOS (Advanced)

  • Visit the HP Support page for your laptop model.
  • Download and install the latest BIOS update if available.

If your laptop still refuses to charge, it could be a battery or charging port issue. Let me know how far you get with these steps, and I’ll help you dig deeper if needed. You’ve got this—and I’m right here to help you power through! 💪
