HP Pavillion dv6 notebook
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My battery doesn't seem to be getting picked up by my laptop. I see over the battery option it says "plugged in and not charging", but also says the battery is at 100%. If I unplug the AC adapter, the laptop shuts off. I've ran the HP battery check but it comes back as unknown. I've also tried uninstalling the driver, but no luck. I'm not too sure what my options are other than buying a new battery and hoping that works.

You have identified your notebook as a dv6. That would indicate to me that the notebook is more than three to four years old.

If that is the case, it means that the battery is no longer serviceable.

It will need to be replaced to return your notebook to a mobile device again.

There is no "fixing" possible with the notebook battery.

I tried 2 replacement OEM batteries.. Both seemed to have the same problem.. Then I discovered, after installing, removing, placing and removing the back, may times. The problem was a stiff insulating material over the replacement battery wires that was NOT on the original battery..  Battery worked fine while the cover was back cover was off.. But when I placed the bolts in the cover, the battery would fail.. Appears the cover was pushing against the battery power connector wires and forcing the plug  away from it's mating plug. I used a plastic and wood tool to push the battery wires into a void next to the battery.. Problem solved.
