Hi,
I've been experiencing some bizarre behaviour with the battery of my Spectre x360. The percentages that the battery shows when not plugged in jump wildly, and I sometimes experience sudden shutdowns of the laptop.
For example, earlier today, I booted up my laptop without it being plugged in. The battery level showed 61%. (It was 100% when I had shut down last night, after being plugged in to a full change. The rapid battery drainage issue is not new.) Anyway, within two or three minutes, Windows showed an alert that indicated that my battery was running dangerously low (presumably 10% or under) and the laptop proceeded to shut down. After booting up again (with the machine plugged in), I immediately checked the battery percentage: it showed 64%. This makes no sense, but, as mentioned, it's not the first time that the battery has acted this way.
I have run the HP battery test, which always shows the battery as "OK". While I assume that I need to replace the battery, could the issue lie somewhere else?

I have gone through your Post and would like to help
Please reinstall the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and check if that helps
Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please Shutdown the Notebook
Step 06. Remove the Battery and unplug the Power Adapter ( For Notebooks with Removable Batteries )
Step 07. Press and Hold the Power Button for full 1 Minute
Step 08. Go ahead and put back the Battery and connect the Power Adapter and restart
Next update the BIOS from this Link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
If the issue persists run a Battery Test again to confirm the Hardware Functionality
- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Power > Battery

Hi,
Is the battery on my laptop (x360 convertible 13-ac0XX) removable? Also, what are the steps to follow to remove it? Is there a guide available for this? I have never removed a laptop battery before and want to know how to do it correctly before I proceed with the steps that you provided in your message.

The Battery is removable but only if you have experience troubleshooting sealed batteries Notebook
If you have never tried it then skip that particular step since it's not as simple as releasing a latch
Step 01. Click on the Start Button
Step 02. Type "Device Manager" in the start search box & open the Device Manager
Step 03. Look for Batteries and expand it by click on the + symbol on the left
Step 04. Right Click on "Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery" & uninstall
Note: This Battery driver will get re-installed automatically when you restart the Notebook again
Step 05. Please restart the Notebook

Unfortunately, the proposed solution did not work for me. I followed the steps, as you had instructed (without removing the battery, for I am unable to do that).
When I turned on my laptop (unplugged) this morning after having shut it off overnight, the battery read 62%. Within one minute, however, Windows showed an alert on my screen saying that my battery was very low, and the laptop proceeded to shut down. When I booted up again (with the power cord plugged in), the battery read 64%.
Is there another solution or do I need to replace the battery? I have no idea what's going on, but it's very frustrating.

Have you tried updating the BIOS. Did you run the Battery check from F2 Diagnostic?
If the issue persists please contact HP Support in your region for Battery Replacement
1) Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/
2) Select your product type below.
3) Enter the serial of your device.
4) Select the country from the drop-down.
5) Select the chat or get phone number options based on your preferences.
6) Fill the web-form and proceed further.

The BIOS is up to date according to HP Support Assistant (no updates available). I have run Battery Check and Component Tests (Battery) through the HP apps that are installed, and the battery passed in all instances. Maybe it's a "false positive" and I still need to have the battery replaced.
