Hi,
I purchased my hp pavilion 14-ce3501sa back in early December. I had the unit for about a week and was not impressed with the battery life. I updated drivers and another couple of tips that I had read on these forums but the battery life still was not great, only getting about 4 hours out of the battery, for a batter that is advertised as 10 hours with mixed, this was well below what I expected. I returned the laptop and got another hp pavilion 14-ce3501sa.
I thought this was an improvement but I soon realised that I was having the same problem so I came to the conclusion it must be me and how I'm using it. I tried following the same tips I had read on forums but could only manage to get a maximum of 4-5 hours out of the battery. My battery saver was on, I had turned off everything that could be possibly using battery that I did not need, screen brightness turned down, but nothing would prolong the battery life. When I check my battery report I can see that my capacity has gone down dramatically and my estimated battery life is very poor. I bring my laptop with me to college am only using word or looking at class notes when the majority of these battery drains occur. I have included snips of my battery report to hopefully aid in getting advice on the best course of action I should take now.
I am really not happy with how this laptops battery performs. I also note that the fan seems to run very loudly and quite frequenttly.

Hi,
Thanks for your reply. I have already updated the BIOS and the drivers as I had seen this advice on another post in the community. But unfortunately this did not help.
In regards to the advice in the link about conserving battery life, I tend not to ever have my brightness up to full brightness. My power mode is generally always set on 'better battery'. I never have too many applications running at any one time and I have even gone to the extent of removing the tiles from the start up menu. Even with all this done I am still only getting 4-5 hours from the battery. I definitely feel it should not be draining this quick and it is frustrating having to conserve my laptops ability so much just so I am sure I can make it through an evening of lectures. It is very frustrating.
Can you offer any more assistance?
Regards,
Ricky.
