I have an HP Pavilion Laptop 15-eg3000. I purchased it in March of this year. It just started having a battery counterfeit check error message at startup that says a No-HP battery detected. It is the same battery that came in the laptop when it was purchased. Nothing has been changed. Why would I be getting this message. I have run the hardware tests on it, and it passes every one.

Hi @crawford_69,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The "No-HP battery detected" error message is unusual, especially if you're using the original battery that came with your HP Pavilion Laptop 15. This error could occur due to a variety of reasons, including firmware issues, connection problems, or a false-positive detection in the system. Since your battery passes all hardware tests, the issue might not be with the battery itself. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem.
Check Battery Connection
- Shut down your laptop and unplug it from the power source.
- Remove the battery (if it’s removable) and inspect the contacts for dust or debris.
- Clean the contacts gently with a soft, dry cloth.
- Reinsert the battery securely and power on the laptop.
Update BIOS
- Outdated firmware can sometimes cause such errors. Update the BIOS to the latest version:
- Go to the HP Support website.
- Enter your laptop's serial number or model name to find the latest BIOS update.
- Follow the instructions to install it carefully.
Run Battery Calibration
- Perform a battery calibration to reset the system’s battery information:
- Charge the battery to 100%.
- Disconnect the charger and let the battery discharge completely until the laptop shuts down.
- Recharge the battery to 100% without interruption.
Reset the Battery Check
- Reset the battery firmware check using the following steps:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Disconnect the charger and remove the battery (if removable).
- Press and hold the power button for 15 seconds to discharge remaining power.
- Reinsert the battery, plug in the charger, and power on the laptop.
Check for HP Battery Health Manager Settings
- Some HP laptops include a Battery Health Manager feature in the BIOS that might conflict with the battery check:
- Access the BIOS setup (press F10 repeatedly at startup).
- Look for the Battery Health Manager under the Power section.
- Change the settings to Let HP Manage Battery Charging, then save and exit.

Check for System/Driver Updates
- Ensure all drivers, particularly for the battery and ACPI (Advanced Configuration and Power Interface), are updated:
- Open Device Manager (right-click the Start button > Device Manager).
- Expand Batteries, right-click Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, and select Uninstall device.
- Restart the laptop to reinstall the driver automatically.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Thank you for your reply and suggestions that would possibly take care of my problem. So far, the problem has been taken care of. My battery is not removable, so I could not do that. The BIOS was already updated. I was able to run battery calibration. There was no Battery Health Monitor in the BIOS.
