I have an HP Pavillion out of warranty that recently stopped charging fully. I always have it plugged in but it's only charging to 72%. I ran the HP diagnostics and the battery failed the test. I was given a failure code. How can I find out what this code means? 9FJNJF-9ANB6S-MFPW2K-C0FB13

Actually I was able to get it to start charging again. I unplugged the power supply and shut it down. I replugged in the power supply and re-started the laptop and like magic it's fully charged at 100% again.

You will need to either replace the battery yourself or have it done by a shop.

You can use the Windows Battery-Report utility to see exactly what the state of your battery is.

Read the article I wrote about a similar issue  to what you are seeing. In the article, I  explain how to access and use Windows own Battery-report utility.
