Hi,

I bought a new hp laptop a week ago. The battery performance is horrible. When i bought it, they sajd it would last 8 hours per charge. But in reality it only last about 2 hours or maximum 3 hours. Why this is the case and what should i do now?

From what I have read it would seem that you may not have read the specifications correctly.

From the HP Specifications:

"Up to 8 hours and 30 minutes

NOTE:

Battery life varies depending on the product model, configuration (apps, features, power management settings, wireless functionality), and other factors. The maximum capacity of the battery naturally decreases with time and usage."

Up to 8 hours unfortunately not the same as 8 hours. There is a nuanced difference.

I suggest checking to see if that are some installed apps that are working in the backgournd usin up procesor cycles which equates to energy.

two to three hours is what I would expect from a mainstream notebook.

My personal HP x360 Spectre 13t-ap000 notebok on the other hand actually will give me about six to eight hours of use on a flight from Europe to the US west coast.

Run the battery check from within the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics UEFI utility.

I would expect you will not see any errors and the test will show that your battery is in great condition.

You could  consider changing the Windows Power Options to something more frugal than the default HP balanced setting to get more mobile use from your notebook.
