Hi @Pulkitsaini10,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I'd be glad to help you!

I understand that you are having issues with the battery.

It sounds like your HP Victus 15.6-inch Gaming Laptop is experiencing significant battery issues, where it shuts down shortly after being unplugged. This could be due to a degraded battery, faulty battery settings, or issues with power management. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

Troubleshooting Steps

Check Battery Health

  • You can check the battery health using HP's built-in diagnostic tools:
    • Shut down your laptop.
    • Turn it on and repeatedly press the F2 key to open the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics menu.
    • Select Component Tests > Power > Battery.
    • Run the battery test to check its condition. If the test indicates a battery failure or degradation, replacing the battery might be necessary.

Calibrate the Battery

  • Sometimes recalibrating the battery can improve its performance:
    • Charge the battery to 100% and keep it plugged in for an additional 2 hours.
    • Unplug the charger and let the battery drain completely until the laptop shuts down.
    • Charge the battery back to 100% without interruptions.
  • This process can help reset the battery's charge indicator.

Update BIOS and Drivers

  • Ensure that your BIOS and drivers are up to date, as updates often include power management improvements:
    • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest BIOS and drivers for your specific laptop model.
    • Install any updates, especially those related to power management or the battery.

Check Power Settings

  • Ensure that your power settings aren’t set to shut down quickly when on battery:
    • Go to Settings > System > Power & sleep.
    • Click on Additional Power Settings and check your active power plan settings.
    • Adjust settings to allow for more efficient battery usage, such as reducing screen brightness and disabling background apps.

Please find the remaining steps in the next post.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance

Hi @Pulkitsaini10,

Please find the remaining steps below.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • A hard reset can sometimes resolve battery and power issues:
    • Turn off the laptop.
    • Disconnect the power adapter and remove any external devices.
    • Press and hold the power button for about 15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
    • Reconnect the power adapter and turn on the laptop.

Check Battery Connection

  • If you're comfortable opening your laptop, you can check the battery’s physical connection to ensure it hasn’t come loose:
    • Ensure the laptop is off, unplugged, and carefully open the back cover.
    • Check the battery connections and ensure they're secure. If unsure, it’s best to consult with a technician.

Test with Another Charger (Optional)

  • If possible, test with another compatible HP charger. A faulty charger can sometimes cause power management issues.

Run Windows Power Troubleshooter

  • Use Windows built-in troubleshooter to detect power issues:
    • Go to Settings > Update & Security > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooter.

You may also refer to this document for further assistance.

If the above steps don’t resolve the issue, it’s likely a hardware problem with the battery itself or the power circuitry. In this case, it would be best to contact HP support or take the laptop to a certified repair center,

Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
