Hi @oyukselturk,
I read your super quick response. Brilliant troubleshooting, great effort and tremendous patience displayed to try and resolve the issue. Kudos to you for that. 🙂 Please run the F2 diagnostics on the battery from the above link using the component tests to check if it passes.
If it does please uninstall the ACPI battery drivers from device manager by following these steps:
- Right-Click on start button> click device manager> expand Battetries>then select all the drivers including the ACPI drivers and uninstall it one at a time. Then restart the computer.
Later please delete the existing power plan and select the balanced power plan mode from this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c04752217
Let me know how it goes.
To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles.
Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂

Hi @oyukselturk,
Good Day! Welcome to the HP support forums. 🙂 I reviewed the post regarding the battery not holding any charge. I will be delighted to assist you here. 🙂Excellent description and great diagnosis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
To assist with accurate information I would require more information regarding his.
- Did you run battery diagnostics on the computer?
- How long does it hold any charge?
- Does the computer work on AC adapter?
- For now please run the battery diagnostics from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-n/document/c03467259 and run the component tests. If you get any failure code please make a note of it.
- If it passes, please update the bios from http://hp.com/drivers (follow the on-screen instructions) and perform all the steps relating to battery from this link: http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01297640
- : https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01297640 to improve battery performance.
Finally, if nothing works, please contact HP phone support to get the battery replaced or to service the computer because sometimes the battery could be a sealed one and not a customer replaceable part.
- HP Technical Support can be reached by clicking on the following link: http://h22207.www2.hp.com/us-en/?openCLC=true
- (1) Once the support page opens please select the country in which you're located. Next, enter your HP model number on the right.
- (2) Next, choose the 'Contact Support' tab at the top and scroll down to the bottom of the 'HP Support- Contact' page to fill out the form provided with your contact information.
- (3) Once completed click the 'Show Options' icon on the bottom right.
- (4) Lastly, scroll down to the bottom of the page and select 'Get phone number.' A case number and phone number will now populate for you.
They will be happy to assist you immediately. If the unit is under warranty repair services is taken care of by the manufacturer’s warranty
To get details about the battery and order it you could also visit this HP part store link: http://partsurfer.hp.com please follow the on-screen instructions.

Hi DavidSMP
Thanks for your reply. I have been running battery diagnostics almost everyday via HP support assistant, the battery seems ok most of the time (have just run one and got Full Charge Capacity: 2446 mAh (61%)) and shows weak from time to time. However the battery is unreliable most of the time, it goes from full charge very quickly through normal use. Sometimes 1 hour sometimes 2 hours and sometimes a bit longer but this is very unreliable. The computer just shuts down without any prompt or any sign in the middle of my work before it falls down to critical battery level. I had updated BIOS but have just done another update now to see what change it will make.
Partsurfer does not show any parts related to my product. I am past the warranty period,it is less than 2 years I purchased this laptop and was very happy with it but the battery declining this quickly is quite shocking, I had never experienced such quick deterioration in any of my previous laptops. I am trying to find the battery VR03XL but it is not available through HP and I don't want to go to a dodgy website who claim they sell original parts.
Thanks

Hi David SMP
Thanks for the solution, I needed to test it a couple of days to see if I am having the same issues. There is improvement in peformance and more importantly the laptop does not shut down in the middleof my work. Battery life is still not great but can hold up to around 2 hours.

Hi David SMP
My problem with battery still continues. The battery started to drain very quickly and when plugged in to AC it stopscharging at one point. For example at the moment it is at 87%, plugged in but not charging. Yesterday it was the same at various points and I always had to interrupt (unplug AC,plug it back, restart etc.) and managed to get it up to 100%. Then I drained the battery and plugged it back again and turned it on and found it at 82%. Battery check shows OK, it shows 87% and says fully charged.
Any ideas to solve this?
Thanks
Osman

Hi @oyukselturk,
I reviewed the post completely. Brilliant effort and excellent troubleshooting were done to try and resolve it. Kudos to you for a job well done. 🙂
For now please try to use these steps to improve the battery's performance from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c01297640
Please note that the battery degrades with time. there are only a certain a number of charges and discharges that it can handle. Each charge and discharge is a cycle. Several such cycles complete a life cycle of the battery.
Some tips to enhance battery life:
- Please always charge the battery to 100% and use it on battery standby.
- Then when the charger is plugged in, there is no issue here. However, when you continue to sue the computer on battery standby, make sure to drain down the battery to lower than 15% before recharging the battery again.
- One in a while, for example, once in 15 days, save up all your work when the battery shows a notification that it is low on charge and allow it to drain down completely before charging again, which enhances the battery’s life and performance.
- This across devices like camera, cell phone or notebook.
- This is because, with each charge and discharge, the battery completes 1 charging cycle and the life cycle of the battery diminishes.
- The battery has a life cycle of a standard amount of charges and discharges only. (depends on the size of the battery)
- It is never a good idea to charge the battery to 100% and deplete 30% of its charge and connect the charger to it again.
- Because you lose out on 70% of its remaining charge and complete only battery charging cycle if you plug the charger back to charge the battery.
- As it goes from 70% to 100% charge and completes 1 charging cycle.
If the situation does not improve, you might need to replace the battery either by contacting Hp phone support or if it is out of warranty by a long time a local technician.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!
