Hi community,

I'm looking for battery replacement for my laptop, I've found the correct model and SPARE number of the current battery (SD03XL -- SPARE L84394-005), my question is if I can replace this battery for a new one with six cells (SD06XL). I've been looking and appears to be compatible but I just wanted to be sure. Thanks in advance.

Hi @SALJOS1985,

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It's excellent that you've identified your current battery model (SD03XL) and SPARE number (L84394-005). To determine compatibility for upgrading to a six-cell battery (SD06XL), it is crucial to check a few factors:

Compatibility Check

Physical Fit: Ensure that the new six-cell battery (SD06XL) will physically fit into the laptop’s battery compartment. The dimensions need to be similar to the SD03XL for it to fit correctly.

Electrical Compatibility: Verify that the electrical specifications, such as voltage and connector type, match your laptop's requirements.

Manufacturer's Specifications: Refer to the manufacturer's documentation or website to confirm that the SD06XL is listed as a compatible battery for your specific laptop model.

Battery Life and Performance: Six-cell batteries typically provide longer battery life. However, ensure that they do not compromise on performance or pose a potential risk.

Reliable Sources

It is recommended to purchase batteries from reliable sources like HP’s official website or authorized dealers to ensure compatibility and warranty. Using third-party batteries can sometimes be risky and may void your warranty.

I hope this helps.
