Help!
I need a new battery for my HP laptop (14-cm0xxx) but don't know the part number (I don't want to take the existing battery out before I've got a replacement).
I've spent a couple of hours googling, looking on Amazon, Ebay etc, but don't want to buy the wrong thing. Is anyone able to let me know the part number that I need to buy please?
I'm based in the UK,
Thanks in advance,
MissusMalarkey

Hello @MissusMalarkey
Before replacing the battery, you should do the following ...
(1) Create Windows system <restore point>
How to Create a System Restore Point on Windows 10 or Windows 11
(2) Download and install BIOS Update
HP Notebook System BIOS Update | F.65 Rev.A | 26.3 MB | Mar 30, 2022 | Download |
Why should you install the update ? https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4123786-2338478-16 Quote: " Updating the BIOS is recommended as standard maintenance of the computer. It can also help resolve the following issues:

So I've got a new battery and created a system restore point etc.
However the updated bios means that I can no longer get into my laptop. I can't reset a pin or password, can't get in as an administrator, and can't use the system restore point.

Hello @MissusMalarkey
The Bios update only updates the "Bios" program code and certain areas of the Bios data block, it does not change any user accounts/passwords or Windows accounts/settings (on the hard drive), don't worry.

But the change has meant that Windows tells me my PIN is no longer available. I have no way of getting in to my laptop so I don't know what to do.
I have spent hours today looking for a solution but haven't found one so I will need your help please.
