But the change has meant that Windows tells me my PIN is no longer available. I have no way of getting in to my laptop so I don't know what to do.

I have spent hours today looking for a solution but haven't found one so I will need your help please.

Hello  @MissusMalarkey

This is very unusual and should never happen. Please remove current hard disk from notebook. Insert a new hard drive and reinstall Windows operating system. Then transfer your data from old hard drive back to notebook using a USB-to-drive adapter.

Do you need more help ?

Kind regards

I don't have another hard drive or the ability to reinstall windows, it was preloaded onto the laptop when I bought it.

I've just spent money on a new battery which I haven't had a chance to install yet and don't have more money for a new hard drive.

Is this a Windows or a bios issue?

Hello @MissusMalarkey

This is a Windows issue.

Windows does not work correctly. Please reinstall it.

(1Please reinstall your operating system !

You need (another Windows computer) to prepare bootable <USB flash drive>

An unused or empty USB flash drive with at least 32 GB storage capacity is required.

Hello @MissusMalarkey

If you don't have a second Windows computer and a 32 GB <USB flash drive> ask a friend/neighbor/acquaintance to help you create the USB flash drive. Borrow a USB stick, this is only needed once for the installation.

Keep me updated

Kind regards
