Hi @dly3,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It can be frustrating to have your laptop battery stuck at 0% despite being plugged in. Here are several steps you can take to troubleshoot and possibly resolve this issue:

Check Hardware Connections:

  • Ensure the charger and power cable are securely connected to both the laptop and the wall outlet.
  • Test the charger with another compatible HP laptop to determine if the issue is with the charger itself.

Update Battery Drivers:

  • Open Device Manager on your laptop.
  • Expand the Batteries category.
  • Right-click on Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control Method Battery, then select Update driver.
  • Follow the prompts to search for and install any available updates.

Battery Health Diagnostic:

  • Use the HP Support Assistant to run a battery diagnostic test.
  • Open HP Support Assistant and navigate to the Battery Check under Troubleshooting and fixes.

Calibrate the Battery:

  • Fully charge the battery to 100%.
  • Disconnect the charger and let the laptop run on battery power until it shuts down.
  • Recharge the battery to 100% without interruption.

BIOS Update:

Take care and have an amazing day!
